The PCI Express architecture is used for interconnect peripheral devices in computing and communication platforms. Designed for consumer and high-end PCs, embedded computing and communication markets, this architecture is governed and defined by the Peripheral Component Interconnect Special Interest Group. This course begins with a high-level view of the design to provide the big-picture context and goes into the details for each part of the design, providing a thorough understanding of the hardware and software protocols.

Through the course, participants can expect to learn the responsibilities for interface layers, details of packet-based protocol, packet-routing methods used and differences between the three generations of PCIe.
