Partnering with the Employment and Employability Institute (e2i) and United Workers of Electronic & Electrical Industries (UWEEI), Wizlogix invited guest speaker Ms Cheah Soo Lan to conduct a half-day series of talks on 11 March 2016 at the Devan Nair Institute of Employment and Employability.
The day began with a basic introduction to PCB design consideration for reliability and some insights on recommended IPC standards, allowing participants to learn about the various elements of PCB design reliability, such as environments, ocmponents, materials and assembly. This was then followed by a second session that aimed to create new chapters to represent the local community's PCB design-related ideas and concerns. Participants also had the opportunity to exchange ideas, technology and new opportunities with other designer from South East Asia. Ms Cheah then wrapped up the course by introducing participants to general concepts and guidelines relating to the design of robust circuit boards for greater reliability application, particularly in the military and aerospace sectors.
Catering specially to engineers, the one-and-a-half day course, which was led at Hewlett Packard's premises on 29 February and 4 March 2016, provided participants with basic knowledge of PCB design flows and processes so that they can design high-quality and reliable PCBs. Participants got the chance to perform actual layout procedures such as placement, routing and Grber creation, walking away with a better understanding of basic IPC standards regarding proper layout practices and requirements.
